Social responsibility

Afua believes her success and achievements are not complete until she has had the chance to influence the lives of others, especially young children and women. It is for this reason that she founded Afua’s Foundation with a mission to empower women and young people.

Under the Foundation’s first major operation, known as “Operation Prom”,

Operation Prom seeks to make the prom night of one very special high school senior a special night to remember. The founder of the Foundation who also happens to be the designer and CEO of Studio D’Maxsi, Ms. Afua Sam, will personally design a prom dress for one very lucky girl who proves she can beat the rest in her drive for academic excellence.
According to Ms. Afua Sam, she is giving the chance to a young woman driven by a quest for knowledge and success, since the intent of the Operation is to encourage as many girls as possible to complete high school with a serious attitude towards academic drive and excellence.
Who Can Participate:
The competition is open to all female high school seniors who:
Are not truant and are staying in school, and who;
Have a GPA of 3.5 or better, and are focused on making it to the top.
Afua Sam believes any girl who meets her standards deserves to wear a D’Maxsi design.
